![A sizeable portion of the audience that watches television news is children (below 18 years). While no TV station means to harm children, many channels often broadcast news that has a negative impact on them. Following the basics of journalistic ethics and standards while reporting and broadcasting news on and for children can help us get rid of this nuisance. Therefore, MRDI took an initiative to publish this guideline for journalists to help them with broadcast standards for news on and for children on television.](https://mrdibd.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/TV_Book_Children_sm.jpg)

![The RTI Act was enacted to make information available to citizens from the authorities. But lack of people’s awareness and low level of preparedness of the authorities have made implementation of the act difficult from both demand and supply ends. Due to long-practiced culture of secrecy, officials are hesitant to disclose information and often refuse to respond to RTI applications. Designated officers are confused on which information to disclose and which to keep confidential. The authorities need specific Information Disclosure Policy (IDP) to address the challenge of such confusion. MRDI, with the support of Information Commission and Manusher Jonno Foundation published a guidebook to help government authorities develop their respective IDPs and thus comply with the provisions of the RTI Act. Such policy can meaningfully contribute to disclosure of information by the authorities.](https://mrdibd.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IDP-guidebook-for-government-authorities.jpg)

![The RTI Act has been enacted to ensure citizen’s access to public information. The act has made it mandatory for the authorities to provide information if a citizen claims it. But the long-cherished culture of secrecy is a barrier to disclose information by the authorities. The information providing authorities need a changed mindset and guideline including interpretation of the provisions of the act and policy for disclosure of information. The guidebook has been prepared to help the authorities and the designated officials. In addition to explaining the need for information disclosure policy, this publication provides a template on developing such a guideline by the authorities.](https://mrdibd.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IDPG-bangla.jpg)

![Further to developing an IDP guidebook for government authorities, MRDI published another such guidebook for the NGOs keeping their uniqueness in operations, management and target audiences. Since different organizations have different ways and areas of work, preparing a common information disclosure policy guide for all organizations was challenging but still rewarding. Following the standard template, 39 non-government bodies prepared their information disclosure policy tailored to their norms and management system. USAID PROGATI provided support to develop the guidebook.](https://mrdibd.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IDPG-eng.jpg)

As a pilot initiative to address the issue, MRDI, with the support of The Carter Center organized a weeklong boot camp involving young women from different educational institutions where they were empowered with the tools of right to information and its power to change their lives.
