Job Description 

Senior Programme Officer (MEAL)

Role at MRDI:           Technical and support

Reporting to:            Manager Programme

Responsible for:      Implementation of operational MEAL system assigned by the Management

Purpose: To provide specialized technical assistance, oversee MEAL activities, build capacity, ensure accountability, and promote learning for the enhancement of programme effectiveness and quality. 

Main functions of the post:

  1. Leadership: Lead the implementation of effective MEAL systems, team capacity development, accountability, and facilitate learning culture to enhance programme impact and quality.
  1. Management:
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and coordination of multi-project MEAL activities to ensure consistency with organizational goals and donor requirements.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly project reports on time and deliver with feedback and approval of the Manager Programme.
  • Provide support to prepare annual/end of project reports.
  • Ensure that organizational policies, donor standards, and best practices are adhered to in the MEAL processes.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and capacity-building of staff involved in MEAL-related functions.
  1. Technical:
  • Assist the project proposal writing team.
  • Develop necessary tools for the project implantation and documentation.
  • Analyze the monitoring data and support Manager Programme in making well-informed decisions.
  • Share technical knowledge and skills with team members.
  1. Communication: Maintain continuous communication with the Manager Programme and stakeholders / participants to ensure the programme implementation is on track and its effectiveness is maximized.
  1. Organizational:
  • Contribute to organizational development activities as a member of MRDI team.
  • Assist the Manager Programme in coordinating the work of the annual report writing team. 
  1. Others: Any other responsibility as and when assigned by the authority including deputation to different projects.

Key Technical knowledge and skills required:

  1. A strong commitment to MRDI’s vision, mission and values.
  2. Updated knowledge on development concepts including programme implementation and monitoring.
  3. In-depth knowledge of the media sector in Bangladesh.
  4. Knowledge of capacity building and training methodologies.
  5. Proficiency in both Bangla and English.
  6. Fairly strong leadership and management skills.
  7. Fairly strong analytical/problem solving skills.
