![The RTI Act was enacted to make information available to citizens from the authorities. But lack of people’s awareness and low level of preparedness of the authorities have made implementation of the act difficult from both demand and supply ends. Due to long-practiced culture of secrecy, officials are hesitant to disclose information and often refuse to respond to RTI applications. Designated officers are confused on which information to disclose and which to keep confidential. The authorities need specific Information Disclosure Policy (IDP) to address the challenge of such confusion. MRDI, with the support of Information Commission and Manusher Jonno Foundation published a guidebook to help government authorities develop their respective IDPs and thus comply with the provisions of the RTI Act. Such policy can meaningfully contribute to disclosure of information by the authorities.](https://mrdibd.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IDP-guidebook-for-government-authorities.jpg)

![Further to developing an IDP guidebook for government authorities, MRDI published another such guidebook for the NGOs keeping their uniqueness in operations, management and target audiences. Since different organizations have different ways and areas of work, preparing a common information disclosure policy guide for all organizations was challenging but still rewarding. Following the standard template, 39 non-government bodies prepared their information disclosure policy tailored to their norms and management system. USAID PROGATI provided support to develop the guidebook.](https://mrdibd.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/IDPG-eng.jpg)
